Description:
Procon assisted the scheme’s owner in undertaking initial cost estimating for a large irrigation project in the Mackenzie Basin. The owner then committed to working toward a design-build solution with one contractor; on the condition that there was open book transparency around the costing and Procon approved the contractor’s pricing (with the right to go to open tender if agreement was not reached). Procon represented the owner’s interests during negotiation of the contract to ensure maximum cost certainty and minimal risk to the owner. Upon award of contract, Procon acted as Engineer to Contract under NZS3910 assessing all claims, issuing all instructions, and chairing all contract meetings. This included a construction professional on site to observe the works reporting directly to the Engineer. Project was delivered on time and slightly under budget.
